The story of the achievement, Around the
World in 20 days (USA), The Greatest Adventure (UK),
Mit dem Wind um die Welt (D) became a best seller.
After what has been described as the last great adventure
of the 20th century, Bertrand Piccard received a number
of decorations, including the Legion of Honour and the
Olympic Order and joined his father and grandfather
in the 2000 edition of the French Larousse encyclopaedia.
Bertrand is currently involved in humanitarian work
with Winds of
Hope. This foundation was created to maximise the
media and financial impacts of the round-the-world flight
to combat forgotten diseases. He is also a Goodwill
Ambassador for the United Nations.
Bertrand has become a
sought-after speaker for both public and corporate events.
He uses his aeronautical experiences to illustrate such
subjects as motivation and risk-taking, psychology of
communication, teamwork, stress and crisis management.
Since 1992, he has addressed hundreds of public and
private conferences in the Americas, Asia, Europe and
Africa.
